    Summer is here, the sun is shining! It is finally time to switch over to our summer style to take on the summer heat. This means it’s also time to prioritize all things breathable and lightweight.

    Beauty blogger Shira of @simply_shira shares how she wears summer style that incorporates breathable, lightweight fabrics and textures to complement skincare and makeup that follows those same basic principles.


    Much like my wardrobe, my skincare and makeup routines change during the warmer months. I opt for makeup that has skincare benefits which means the textures are lighter and more breathable on my skin. 

    In this blog, I’m sharing my favourite tips for flawless skin and makeup this summer.

    Tinted SPF vs. Full Coverage Foundation

    During the summer months we go for breathable fabrics to keep us from overheating. They are also stylish and make us look and feel our best. My personal favourites are cotton and linen blends. Olsen has the best selection when it comes to breathable fabrics.

    In terms of makeup, much like the breathable fabrics we wear in the summer, we want to give our skin the same treatment. Switch out your full coverage matte foundation for something with skincare benefits and of course SPF.

    A tinted SPF will be your best friend during the summer for multiple reasons:
    • They are lightweight and give the skin a flawless satin-like finish.
    • They allow your skin to breathe (much like the sheer fabrics).
    The addition of skincare ingredients nourishes and hydrate your skin throughout the day.

    I love wearing 100% cotton during the summer because of its breathability and of course the amazing texture! It’s super lightweight and feels so good on the skin.

    Now that we have picked the perfect summer outfit, go ahead, and apply a tinted balm to pull the look together.

    Tinted balms are the perfect summer beauty product because not only do they deliver a stunning wash of colour to our lips without looking too heavy they are also very lightweight in texture, so they won’t feel overwhelming and heavy. 

    Tinted balms have added skincare benefits and ingredients which means they hydrate and moisturize the lips. In terms of ingredients much like our 100% cotton outfit, tinted balms contain more natural elements as well such as shea butters, organic honey, and hyaluronic acids.

    In my opinion tinted balms and cotton are summers perfect pair.

    Pairing different fabrics such as wool, silk, cotton, and denim can create a visually appealing and tactile outfit. For instance, pairing a knit sweater with a sleek faux leather or satin-effect skirt can create a unique and stylish look.
    Adding accessories like scarves, hats, and bags can also be used to add texture to a monochromatic outfit. For example, a flowy viscose scarf in the same colour family of the monochromatic look can add visual interest and a luxurious and cozy feel to an all-blue outfit.

    Cream Blush vs. Powder Blush

    Blush is an easy way to add glam to any look and this summer, I am challenging you to put down your powder blush and grab a cream blush. 

    Why a cream blush, you ask?
    • Cream blush has a wonderfully lightweight texture, it melts into the skin giving the complexion the most stunning glow from within.
    • Cream blush also contains skincare benefits that deliver moisture to the skin. It is the perfect way to add a pop of colour to your complexion while enjoying the skincare benefits a cream formula has to offer.

    My dress has a high content of cotton for breathability and is in an eye-catching pattern that is stunningly vibrant. My cream blush is the perfect compliment to this showstopping dress.
